Chap Chye Stir-Fried Green Beans and Ground Meat (Plant-Based)

I cooked some fried spaghetti noodles with impossible burger patties the other day. It reminded me of one dish commonly found in Singapore hawker centers/food courts that sell mixed vegetables (chap chye png) served with steamed rice. It’s stir-fried green beans with ground meat.

I may start posting more quick recipes with the video made with and posted on tiktok – it’s undeniably the quickest and most efficient way to record recipes on the go.

Ingredients:

2 impossible burger patties (thawed overnight in the fridge and mashed loose)
A bag of green beans (removed both ends, diced)
1 tbsp minced garlic some cooking oil sauce
1/2 cup vegetable broth 2 tbsp light soy sauce
1/2 tbsp sweet soy sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil a dash of white pepper some salt to taste (mix well)

Slurry:
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water (mix well)

Instructions:
Add cooking oil to the heated wok.
Add green beans, roughly stir, add garlic (I usually don’t add garlic to the hot oil as they burn fast), and stir again.
Add impossible burger mince, and stir with turner until the vegan beef turns brownish and the green beans turn a brighter green. Add sauce mixture and stir. Once bubbly, add slurry mix and stir immediately to avoid forming clumps. Turn off the heat, the residual heat suffices to thicken the gravy. serve with steamed rice.

* I believe you can replace the vegan mince with real meat and cook the same way.
